How...how the hell did I get this done in under a week?! I spent the past month prepping for a conference so I was in quite the rush to get this done. I planned on having Maui interact with all the mermaids but had to cut out one and lots of other little things, and the edits are all over place and I'm 90% certain that CGI characters will be outlawed in this contest because of me and my messy mismatched masking, but at least it's completed.
Also, because it's a photoshoot round, here's my pic!

PLOT:
Grimsby leads the nobles to the shore, where King Triton appears. Once the awe wears off, Maui worries he'll get the wrong idea about his hook - prejudices take time to overcome, after all. Triton tells the princes that he's allowing them to get to know his daughters. Maui is introduced to Attina first. As the eldest, she's next in line for the throne and knows a fair bit about ruling - far more than Maui does, in fact. Strike one!
Maui's attempts to find common ground with Alana don't fare well, either. Partway through, he's distracted by Emperor Guoliang telling Aquata about dragons - something which attracts some of the other royals as a matter of fact. Once he's done, Maui returns to the conversation only to find Alana flirting with Hayes. He's happy to see his normally shy friend is coming out of his shell, however, so no big loss there.
Arista compliments Maui on his tattoos and he tells her a bit about their history while making her laugh with his dance moves. Arista talks about how she loves playing music and dancing (well, underwater she can), and the two hope maybe one day they can jam together.
Maui also gets on well with Adrina as they both share the same sense of humor. She jokes about how Triton would probably turn Maui into a fish if he saw him carrying his hook, which, despite her not being serious, gets him a bit anxious again. He shouts to Triton from across the bay that it's purely ceremonial, which Adrina can't help but giggle at.
Aquata wants to hear all about sailing, and Maui is happy to oblige her. Once he's done, he thinks about what comes next. He knows his father would want him to pursue Attina since she's Triton's heir. Then again, he did say he wanted his son to marry "A" princess, he just didn't specify which one. Maui's ready to take that loophole and pursue his dream princess from under the sea (possibly a horn-tootin' blonde...)
Oh, and I own none of this, fair use, not intended for kids under 13, blah blah blah.
