Gewa G5 vs Gewa G9 - Drum Module Comparison 65 Drums 2022-08-12 | Today we're looking into the pros and cons of the Gewa G9 module vs the Gewa G5 module!Extra Notes:1. I left the screen protector on the G9 because I didn't want to risk damaging the screen before mailing it back to Gewa. As pointed out in a comment, this may have an effect on how snappy the screen responsiveness is.2. Gewa says the G9 can still do lots of things the G5 can not, and they say I didn't mention some of those capabilities. But if the G9 really is twice as good as the G5, Gewa is not clearly showing those differences in their marketing material and official spec sheets. I'm not doubting that I could have missed a few features. But I could do most of the same core editing across the G5/G9, the 901 sounds are identical, they share the same trigger engine, and even the plastic shell is similar. It's time to see if it's worth buying.Sizes:18” Kick drum, 13” snare, for the toms you get two 10” hi toms, and a 13” floor tom. The cymbals are 14” for the two piece hi hats, you get two 14” crash cymbals, and a 16” ride cymbal. Module Specs:The module comes preloaded with 5 uncompressed kits. There’s an included SD card, so you can go on the ATV website to download more kits as well. There’s a total of 18 kits available to you, 5 built in, and 13 for download on the website (all currently priced at $0). There’s a built-in song player, recorder, and metronome. On the back you have the outputs in addition to your headphone jack, the input for crash two, classic MIDI port, a USB MIDI port, and a SD Card slot. And that’s about it. This module is inexpensive and incredibly simple. The hi-hats are pretty good too. Simmons SD1250 Review 65 Drums 2021-11-08 | *Update: the hi-hat has been greatly improved with a new firmware update available on the Simmons website: youtu.be/ZycnVxq4DQMToday we're taking a deep dive on the Simmons SD1250. It's the successor to the Simmons SD1200 and Expanded edition of that kit. This new drum set takes a few steps forward and a few steps back from its predecessor:Pros: It's the largest drum set of it's price range. The new update fixes the ride cymbal, snare, and kick drum problems the old version had. This module features a color screen and faders. The drum rack is very wide. A snare stand, sticks, drum key, and a kick drum patch are included in the box.Cons: The hi-hat misses hits when you play fast on successive bow and edge hits. The drum rack is a bit wobbly. The snare, while drastically improved, does miss the occasional rim shot if you play fast. And there's no rim/head trigger adjustment to fix that problem.Verdict: Don't buy this until they fix the hi-hat. If they rush a firmware patch, then this will be a large, cheap kit that's good for drum plugins. They are replacing the DTX700, which originally came out in 2011. Were these new drum sets worth the wait? *UPDATE*While the DTX Pro-X sound set is the same as the DTX Pro, there are more sample layers, and higher detail. Second: the official DTX10 videos advertise "all new sound." This isn't because they have a different sound set from the DTX Pro.
