Hive Drums The Worker Snare Drum drumclips 2022-10-03 | The Worker line is available in 14x5.5 and 14x6.5 sizes; the version I tried was the smaller of the two and had serial number 003.I wanted to approach this review a little bit differently taking into account I knew nothing about either the drum or the company when I was given it. Think of it as a blank page…On that basis, I took the drum out to a rehearsal without looking anything up. After playing it I figured it was probably an aluminium shell, which indeed it is (3mm thick 5251 grade aluminium that is rolled and then riveted together).

She has been active on local and international scenes such as Montreal, Vancouver, Berlin, Hamburg, Bari, Doha and Kolkata, to name just a few, and has been adding her touch to various renowned artists such as Lara Fabian, Marie-Josée Lord and Les Trois Accords.About Ellen - a German percussionist known for her versatility in different musical styles. After finishing school she studied latin percussion at the 'Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst‘ in Mannheim, Germany with Prof. José J. Cortijo. She was awarded a scholarship to study Brazilian percussion with Prof. Jorge Sacramento in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. British Drum Company 13x7 Super 7 Snare Drum drumclips 2022-06-16 | Given that the name seems to pop up a lot now, you might think that purpleheart is a bit of new wood when it comes to snare drums because it’s not mentioned that much, but that isn’t even remotely the case. For example, Keith Keough, the CEO and founder of BDC built me a purpleheart snare drum about 17 years ago; other builders have been using it for a while too, so there’s nothing really new about it, it just seems more visible now that companies are offering it as an option. The Super 7’s purpleheart shell is 10-ply, with 45’ edges and an outer ply of fiddleback sycamore. It has four air vents (which help with the volume), triple flanged hoops, Palladium hardware, BDC brass snare wires and comes fitted with Remo heads so it’s ready to go out of the box. It also comes with a couple of cool badges too.

Bristol Drum Co 14x7 Iroko/Padauk Snare Drum drumclips 2022-05-14 | The Bristol Drum Co is a small boutique drum builder based in the area. The company produces its own range of wooden segmented snare drums that are all individually made in a workshop in Bristol and that involve many hours of careful craftmanship to produce. The company produces each snare drum with its own unique serial number, with no two drums ever being exactly the same.The drums are made using segmented construction and come in a range of 10", 12", 13" and 14" diameters, and thicknesses up to 1/2”, and a range of indigenous and exotic hardwoods are available. Now, this 14x7 drum is a stave shelled model made from Iroko and Padauk - the Iroko being the main wood and the Paudauk being used to make the stripes. Pearl Matt Halpern 14x6.5 Signature Snare Drum drumclips 2022-03-15 | The drum in question has a black powder-coated 1.5mm brass shell with three air vents. The hoops are Pearl’s MasterCast die-cast model and the strainer is the SR-150 Click-Lock design (long and quite skinny). The black/brass STL Swivel Tube Lugs may not be to everyone’s taste - I found that out first hand as I have a kit with them on and someone told me they didn’t like them so much - but I like them all the same. Zildjian Raw Crashes drumclips 2022-03-01 | Zildjian Raw crashes. Zildjian says the sizing of each model varies from around 20 to 24”, and they come in both small and large bell variants and are pretty thin.Under the stick, there’s no real difference in terms of feel; they play just as you would expect both as a crash and a ride.The sound of the Raw Crashes though is what makes them different; if being of no specific shape wasn’t different enough to begin with. When crashed, they’re short, sharp, fast and very dry. When used as a ride, they’re crispy with a short decay. I found that they’re also - and this was a bit of a surprise - quite quiet. On a superficial, visual-only based expectation, I was thinking they’d be a little louder than they are, the rawness indicating a possible wild and uncontrolled sound, but there’s a definite ceiling on the overall volume to both of the models I tried.For a full written review go to our site mikedolbear.com

Meinl Customs Classic Dark 2021 Selection drumclips 2021-06-30 | Meinl Customs Classic Dark 2021 Selection The Customs Classic Dark series has been around for a little while now and yet until a few weeks ago I’d never had a chance to play any of them. This B10 bronze line has a fairly unique look to it, as you’ll have seen. It’s not exactly a raw finish which has been lathed but from a distance it looks a little like that. The series features clean, modern sounding cymbals with that aforementioned distinct look. For 2021, the range has been extended to include some new heavy models and these are part of what we were sent to check out. We were also sent a mixture of other lines as well which we’ll look at in the near future.
