This week Im showing you my 3 must have microphones that are always in my camera bag. The three mics are the rode video mic pro, the BOYA by-m1 and the Zoom H1 handy recorder. Whilst these mics are by no means the best mics for video, for my budget they have proved to cover every base when it comes to recording high quality audio for video.
As a filmmaker I recognise that it is important to get good audio for video and using these mics in combination has delivered good quality audio on numerous projects and all without breaking the bank.
The BOYA by-m1 lav mic is one of he best budget lav mics I have used and combined with the best budget audio recorder i have used, the Zoom H1, it delivers great results. The Rode Video Mic Pro is considered the best vlogging mic by many youtubers but it is also an amazing high quality mic for nearly any video work. I've also included microphone tests so you can hear all the different mics and combinations of mics i use to help you choose the right microphone for you.
