While Mark Carney pushes CCUS as the fix for BC wildfires, the real story is the accelerating shutdown of our forest industry.
Last year alone: Crofton pulp mill, West Fraser sawmill in 100 Mile House, and Drax pellet mill in Williams Lake all closed. The BC Council of Forest Industries reports 21 lumber mills permanently or indefinitely shuttered since 2023, plus just recently Canfor’s Northwood pulp mill.
