The preparation of future generation astronomers requires teaching the instrumentation, the observing techniques, and the data reduction and analysis methods for the different astronomies whose combination is multi-messenger astronomy. A broad range of information carriers contributes to the understanding of astrophysical sources: the electromagnetic spectrum including optical, infrared, radio, ultraviolet, X-ray, gamma-ray domains and neutrinos, cosmic rays, gravitational waves, dark matter, and dark energy.
Students must receive combined training, spanning observational astrophysics for the planning and execution of observations, experimental physics for instrument and detector building and operation, and astrostatistics for the reduction and analysis of data.
The presentation will report on the development of two laboratory courses and a lecture-based course about multi-messenger astronomy, describing the experiments realized and the data analysis sessions of open optical, high energy, and gravitational data.
