Mulholland Drive, Los Angeles, day and night - 4K
Mulholland Drive is a street and road in the eastern Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California.
It is named after pioneering Los Angeles civil engineer William Mulholland.
The western rural portion in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties is named Mulholland Highway.
The road is featured in a significant number of movies, songs, and novels.
David Lynch, who wrote and directed a film named after Mulholland Drive, has said that one can feel "the history of Hollywood" on it.
Academy Award–winning actor Jack Nicholson has resided at Mulholland Drive for many years and still lives there today.
The eastern terminus of Mulholland Drive is at its intersection with Cahuenga Boulevard at the Cahuenga Pass over the Santa Monica Mountains (at this point Cahuenga Boulevard runs parallel to Highway 101/The Hollywood Freeway).
The road continues to the west, offering vistas of the Hollywood Sign, Downtown Los Angeles, and then Burbank, Universal City, and the rest of the San Fernando Valley with the San Gabriel, Verdugo, and Santa Susana Mountains.
The road winds along the top of the mountains until a few miles west of the San Diego/Interstate 405 Freeway.
Just west of the intersection with Encino Hills Drive, it becomes an unpaved road not open to motor vehicles.
The 21-mile (34 km) long mostly two-lane, minor arterial road loosely follows the ridgeline of the eastern Santa Monica Mountains and the Hollywood Hills, connecting two sections of U.S. Route 101, and crossing Sepulveda Boulevard, Beverly Glen Boulevard, Coldwater Canyon Avenue, Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Nichols Canyon Road, and Outpost Drive.
The road offers outstanding views of the Los Angeles Basin, the San Fernando Valley, Downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign.
Mulholland Drive has some of the most exclusive and expensive homes in the world, housing mainly Hollywood celebrities.

West Hollywood, commonly referred to as WeHo, is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States.
Incorporated in 1984, it is home to the Sunset Strip.
The West Hollywood Halloween Carnival is an event that takes place annually on October 31.
The largest Halloween street party in the United States (spanning over 1 mile (1.6 km) of Santa Monica Boulevard from La Cienega Boulevard on the East to Doheny and the Beverly Hills border on the West).
The 2007 Carnival was reported to have more than 350,000 people in attendance, with some traveling from other countries specifically for the event.
The issue of Paparazzi chasing celebrities is raised regularly and the city participates in meetings with other nearby municipalities such as Beverly Hills and Los Angeles to discuss the problem and possible actions to better control the activity.
The epicenter of the Thirty Mile Zone lies just blocks to the south of the city, and is the basis for the name of TMZ on TV, a paparazzi footage-based program. TMZ moved their operations from Sunset and Crescent Heights Boulevards to Los Angeles.
On May 28, 2018, Mayor John Duran announced that Stormy Daniels would receive the Key to the City alongside her attorney, Michael Avannati.
“In these politically tumultuous times, Stormy Daniels has proven herself to be a profile in courage by speaking truth to power even under threats to her safety and extreme intimidation from the current Administration”, said the mayor.
Actress Drew Barrymore grew up on Poinsettia Place until the age of 7, when she moved to Sherman Oaks; she moved back to West Hollywood at the age of 14
As of the 2010 U.S. Census, its population was 34,399.
It is considered one of the most prominent gay villages in the United States.

Jefferson Boulevard is a street in Los Angeles and Culver City, California.
Its eastern terminus is at Central Avenue east of Exposition Park.
At its entrance to Culver City, it splits with National Boulevard. North of Sawtelle Boulevard, it merges with Sepulveda Boulevard. Jefferson returns before Slauson Avenue and ends at Culver Boulevard; its western terminus is near Playa Del Rey.
