Mount Diablo State Park is a fantastic area east of San Francisco that has history, hiking, biking and views. In the park you can drive all the way to the summit of Mt Diablo which is one of the best viewpoints for distance you can see in the lower 48 United States. The park also has great family friendly trails like the Rock City Trail and viewpoints like Diablo View. At the summit you can visit the museum which was built in the 1930s and which is like a castle on the top of the mountain. Overall, it is a great park to spend a day at.
