Description: The MPC1000 is an awesome mixing unit capable of just about any audio voice or music arrangement you can think of. Much of today’s Digital Music is produced with one of these or a unit just like it.
In this video we repair the Q-Link Slider on the bottom left. It’s the same for both sliders so if you do one the other is the same. Sorry I don’t have the part number for a replacement slider. However, if you type into google “AKAI MPC 1000 potentiometer Q-Link” some replacements will show up. They normally run from $9-15.00. They are also on eBay for about the same price. This repair was for a friend of mine on YouTube “SIMPLETHINGS”:
In this video series there's also a video repair of the “MPC 1000 DATA Wheel Encoder Mitsumi SIM 026MT R66 5214 Repair there’s no direct replacement for the original Encoder SW101, a Mitsumi Switch Encoder SIM-026MT Part Number: R66 5214. The Mitsumi Encoder SIM-026MT Data Sheet.
Tools used:
- Hobby knife, Ace Hardware.
- 1-1/2” Needle Nose Pliers. Any brand will do, I used Craftsman for this job.
- 30 watt soldering iron will do.
- 4” Side Cutters, used for cutting the braid.
- Acid brush, with 1/2 of it cut off with a pair of scissors.
Consumables Used:
- Isopropyl Alcohol, 90%
- Liquid Flux.
- 70-30 Lead/Tin Solder.
- Solder braid, medium, to remove & clean the pads, once removed.
- Paper Towels.

The MPC1000 was purchased from Ras David Fishe at OscillationCommunications in New Orleans, a talented local artist. Some of his music was produced using this very unit we repair in the video.
