If you’re looking for music that’s guaranteed to lift the spirits – Mozart’s overture to The Marriage of Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) is one piece that instantly comes to mind. The famous Mozart hit is performed here by the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Adam Fischer. The overture was the opening work of the gala concert at the International Classical Music Awards 2025, held on March 19, 2025, at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
Mozart composed his four-act opera Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) between autumn 1785 and spring 1786. It premiered in Vienna on May 1, 1786. This opera buffa (comic opera) is a whirlwind of romantic entanglements — and of servants rebelling against their masters. From its premiere, Le nozze di Figaro was an audience favorite, though it often disappeared from opera schedules.
