Moving scam continued.Those scumbag scammers were arrested! They're out on bail, but I believe a trial is in the near future, they're facing up to 20 years for conspiring to commit wire fraud.
If this is your first video, my wife's mom is looking to sell her home and retire (somewhere smaller) in the near future. She lives in Oregon, my wife and I live in PA. That was my wife's home from childhood through college, and she still had a number of her things in the garage and her old bedroom that her mom wanted her to have (and to get out of the home she's looking to sell). It was a small amount of things, not a whole house. You could fit everything on one wall in the garage and still have room for a car and tons of other crap too.
Before my wife and I arrived in Oregon, her mom had found/hired movers. I believe she'd gotten the name of the company from a U-Haul place in town. She had no idea this was a broker company (and we wouldn't have known to ask, either). If you hire a broker, posing as a mover, that means you're going to pay them a few thousand dollars to had you off to some other shady company. At least that's what happened to us. My wife's mom still thought she was dealing with that same company when the movers showed up at her home, all the way until they had her sign the paperwork before leaving after the truck was fully loaded. Oh, and that'll be an extra $10,000 please, or you don't get your stuff back!
Go with a legit company. Ask people. Look at reviews. Look them up on BBB. Get a few quotes. Make sure you're not hiring a broker. If you can move yourself, that's probably best, I also recommend PODS.
