It's a lot to explain, TLDR, this channel kinda got away from us. It's a video diary. When we first started I was very strict about not allowing Power Ranger content over here, keep the channels separate. I should have stuck to that.
MMPRtoys grew more quickly than we could have imagined, and with the growth came so many people wanting to know more about us. It seemed obvious to tell people there about this channel. Many people came over. And at first it seemed fine. There was interest in our road trips, CA stories, college flashbacks, etc. We didn't know what was happening in the background. As more PR people came over, YouTube collected more and more data pointing to this being a Power Ranger channel, not a vlog channel. We were suggested more and more to people with a PR search/view history, and continued to grow and grow only reaching PR fans.
Eventually we had accumulated way more people who were here looking for toys and don't care about vloggers. Before I knew what was happening, I tried to please the toy people with more toys, but it only sent us out further to more toy people. Now we have so many toy people they've become the gatekeepers. If we post a new video, they determine how far it goes. When all of the PR people decline the initial upload, YouTube hides us and stops sending the video out. If we post PR, then it goes out further, and we gain even more PR people, who then don't like vlogs, and it just keeps going in one of those two directions, neither of which are our goal of reaching vlog channel viewers looking for lifestyle content.
This is not an attack against PR fans, which I of course am myself, that's just not what this channel was supposed to be. The two things aren't playing nice anymore. I'll leave it at that. So, no more weekly uploads, but we'll still post here occasionally and new vlogs will be posted to Patreon. Hope to see you there, and thank you to everyone who was here for the vlogs over the years.
