Hey guys, so, clearly some EPIC dishonesty or incompetence going on here. Not sure yet if it's 100% a scam, but, I'd say it's pretty up there! To say the least, Mia and I are tired of being taken advantage of, and we do plan to put up our best fight. We're pretty easy going, but these guys will experience our full fury. Stay tuned!

If you are moving, I would really suggest doing it yourself. Rent a truck, or PODS. If you do PODS you can still hire guys for the day to load/unload (and supervise them, of course). If doing it yourself really isn't an option, research your movers. First, be sure to ask if you're talking to a broker. These guys don't usually offer that if you don't ask. Julie actually worked for a crook after college, who told her never to say they were a broker.
Anyway, once you find a mover, look 'em up. Read reviews on BBB. See how long they've been active. Look up their address on Google Maps. Do you see an fruit stand? Or a warehouse with moving trucks? If you can't find their physical address, go to the next one. No company is perfect, of course, and I know there's a truck driver shortage, but some of these guys are just running scams. Or they're just really horrible and should be avoided either way. MEASURE YOUR THINGS. Take pictures/video. Have an inventory. Know how much stuff you have. Get names. Don't just ask about forms of payment, look at the contract. A company that just wants cash seems kinda shady. Also beware of hidden fees. Some companies will charge you per stair. Two flights of stairs could cost you another $300, for instance. There's a lot to know and look out for, do your research. Your movers are supposed to provide you with a packet about your rights and responsibilities while moving. Surprise surprise, ours did no such thing. Hope that helps, but there's lots more to know.
