2001 commercial for Motrin NSAID/pain reliever says Motrin is for those who don't fool around with pain. Motrin was coming off a huge success story as being a widely prescribed NSAID. Ibuprofen (the active ingredient) had become available over the counter and thus was expected to take the market by storm.

It did, but Motrin didn't do all that well. Nuprin seemed to take the early lead out of the gate and Advil was the longer-run winner. All 3 medicines contained the exact same active formula. Motrin is seen here trying the specialized migraine pain angle, although the formulation is no different than regular OTC Motrin.

Ibuprofen performed well enough that it vied for leadership over aspirin, the long-time favorite in the arena.

This spot aired on FOX during a showing of Malcolm in the Middle on Sunday January 14th, 2001
