How have royal wedding dresses changed over 230 years in Britain, what did some of the most iconic royal brides in history wear on their big days and who were the best and worst royal brides ever (in my opinion)?
In this royal wedding dress documentary from History Calling we look at the history of royal wedding dresses since the 18th century, including:

Queen Victoria’s wedding dress and the wedding dresses of Queen Victoria’s daughters
Queen Alexandra’s wedding dress
Elizabeth II’s wedding dress created during a time of rationing
Princess Diana’s Wedding dress for her 1981 marriage to Prince Charles
Kate Middleton’s wedding dress for her 2011 wedding to Prince William
Meghan Markle’s wedding dress for her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018
Queen Camilla’s wedding dress for her 2005 marriage to Prince Charles
You’ll find out if it’s true that Queen Victoria had the first white wedding dress and hear who makes royal wedding dresses (including how designers like the Emmanuels, Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, Givency and Stella McCartney handled the jobs), how much royal wedding dresses cost and what the oldest surviving royal wedding dress looks like and who wore it. I’ll also discuss why British royal brides are expected to wear British made wedding dresses, who controversially bucked this trend, which royal bride wore a second-hand dress and which Princess used her wedding dress to show off a scar. We’ll even look at the wedding dresses worn by royal brides to their receptions in more recent years and at how these differ to their main dresses. Finally, we’ll see the tiaras worn by royal brides on their wedding days, including the Spencer tiara worn by Princess Diana, the halo tiara worn by Catherine Middleton and which royal brides didn’t wear tiaras at all.
