We know the Son and the Spirit are God equal with the Father, because of the names, attributes, works, and worship that are given to them. The Son is Yahweh. But there is a real distinction between Father, Son, and Spirit. The Father is NOT the Son, the Son is NOT the Spirit, and the Spirit is NOT the Father. The Son is eternally begotten form the Father, and the Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son.
But the real difference between Mormonism (LDS) and historic Christianity is our view of how many gods there are. The Bible is clear: there is but one only, the Living and True God.
