134 BPM - Disco / Funky House: now this tape is surely not the best in terms of mixing but I really do like the song selection. I’m pretty sure that some of the tracks haven’t been used at all in other recordings throughout my archive. Some background info for this particular mix: I was scheduled to DJ at a club on the main floor. 4 to 6 hours of Trance and Techno. But less than one day prior I got a phone call in the middle of the night and got asked if I could act as a replacement for the secondary (House) floor because one DJ would be absent for whatever reason. Well I already had all my stuff together for the main floor and had to hurry up to switch everything out for House records. This tape acted as a warm up a few hours before I left for the club. At that point it had been a while since I last played House, some practice was due.
My actual DJ set on site was totally different. You can’t really prepare set lists for 6 hours or more, let alone on such short notice. In addition I had some trouble scraping together enough records in the first place. My ‘main’ style was always Trance related, Techno and House just acted as sidekicks as I could barely afford to keep my primary style up to date.
I would really like to do some new mixes but this particular style of House, which is running as Disco or Funky House nowadays, doesn’t seem to be that popular anymore. In contrast to the other styles I play I got issues getting a sufficient amount of tracks together.
