This is a CCTV multiplexer which can show four individual cameras on a monitor in four quadrants, which I have connected a single camera to, then pointed back at the monitor. The effect is to multiply the image by three (in this case) every time the image goes through the loop. This creates something resembling a fractal. I've found leaving the fourth quadrant disconnected gives the best results.
Strictly speaking, this isn't a completely analogue process, as the multiplexer is a digital device with a frame buffer. The same effect could be done (and has been done) with three monitors.
The camera used is a B&W vidicon security camera.
