We are starting out mild and muggy with temperatures in the 70’s. Highs this afternoon will reach the mid-90’s with heat index values between 100 and 105 degrees. A few showers/storms are possible near the coast this morning, but more storms are likely this afternoon. Out of the storms that do form, a few could be strong/severe, especially in our western counties. There is a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather for our western counties and a level 1 out of 5 risk for our eastern counties. The main threat today will be damaging winds. The storms will fizzle after sunset. Daily afternoon showers and storms will continue through the week with seasonable temperatures in the lower 90’s. Each day brings a chance for possible strong storms. In the tropics, we are tracking two disturbances. One is coming off the coast of Africa with a medium chance for development. The other is in the north-central Atlantic and also has a medium chance for development.
