. Alright all you floppy disk nerds! You heard this same Epson SD-800 dual floppy disk drive testing its read/write heads for both 3.5 and 5.25 before... but this time it's going HD (that's "high density" not "high definition" for the not so familiar :) ). The system it's being used in is a Packard Bell Multimedia F170 tower (the Packard Bell Multimedia 486 desktop it used to be in died shortly after that video... from something else unrelated). The testing software is PC-Doctor version 1.9 and you get to actually see the software doing the testing this time!
The disks used are:
3.5" 1.44MB Double-Sided High Density (DSHD, 80 Tracks)
5.25 1.2MB Double-Sided High Density (DSHD, 80 Tracks)
Tests performed are:
Hi-Low Seek (Head is moved from 1st track to last track repeatedly)
Funnel Seek (Head is moved from outermost tracks to innermost and then back out again)
Track-to-Track Seek (Head is moved up once each track from first to last)
Random Seek (Head is moved to a randomly designated track)
Linear Verify (Same as "Track-to-Track" Seek but disk sectors are read/checked)
Random Verify (Same as "Random Seek" but disk sectors are read/checked)
