We are starting out mild and muggy with temperatures in the 70’s. Highs this afternoon will only reach the mid-to-upper 80’s thanks to clouds and some rain sticking around. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around starting this morning at the coast and will linger and start to pop up inland as we move into the afternoon and evening. You likely won’t see rain all day, but scattered storms are possible. We cannot rule out a few strong storms with gusty winds, heavy rain, lightning and thunder. Widespread flooding is not expected, but localized flooding is possible in areas that see multiple rounds of heavy rain. Rain chances drop heading into the weekend with temperatures staying seasonable in the upper 80’s and lower 90’s. In the tropics, we are tracking newly formed Tropical Storm Dolly. It will likely continue to organize over the next day or so before it runs up on some wind shear and dry air this weekend that will help weaken it as it approaches the Caribbean. There are no imminent threats to our stretch of the Gulf Coast.
