We are starting out mild and muggy with temperatures in the 70’s. Highs this afternoon will reach the lower 90’s with heat index values between 100 and 105 degrees. We are expecting scattered showers and storms to develop along the sea breeze starting in the early afternoon and lingering into the evening. Out of the storms that do form, one or two could be strong/severe, with damaging winds being the main threat. The storms will fizzle after sunset. Daily storm chances increase Wednesday and Thursday before we dry out a bit for the weekend. Each day brings a chance for possible strong storms. In the tropics, we are tracking a tropical wave off the coast of Africa (AL96) with a high chance for development. A tropical depression or storm will likely form in the next few days as the system tracks westward across the Atlantic. By this weekend, the environment becomes less conducive for development. No imminent threats to our stretch of the Gulf Coast.
