The Task Force on Housing and Climate issued a report card written by Dr. Mike Moffat grading the provinces' response to an earlier report of recommendations from March of 2024, titled: "Blueprint for More and Better Housing." In their new report card on achieving affordable, climate resilient housing - 5.8 million of such units by 2030 - the author gives Alberta the worst score for not having complied with the "Blueprint." The main objective of Moffat's group is to push "missing middle" housing of 4-plexes in existing neighbourhoods to radically increase density and to capitalize on existing infrastructure like sewage, electricity distribution, water mains, etc. In this video Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science, questions the validity of this 'report card' as it seems to be the same group measuring against their own 'Blueprint" which is not the federal government's official report on housing. Indeed, it is curious that in "Blueprint" climate change is mentioned 193 times, while homeless is mentioned only once. Stirling argues that 4-plexes often become much larger complexes and rapidly destroy the character of neighbourhoods, often leading to a drop in home value for older homes. She explains that the federal government is bypassing provincial authority and going directly to cities. There is an insidious climate ideology associated with cities through the C40 and C100 global organizations which plan to 'stop climate change' ...mostly by making your life miserable, if you are an urban dweller.
