Downing Street has rejected the suggestion that there was a perceived conflict of interest over the Prime Minister attending a Taylor Swift concert and meeting the star, after government involvement with discussions over her security.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman also said that Sir Keir Starmer would not refer himself to the independent adviser on ministers’ interests over the interaction which has come under scrutiny amid questions over the Government’s involvement in security talks for the summer events.
It emerged last week that London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper were involved in talks over security for the concerts after which Swift was granted a blue-light escort – a type of protection usually reserved for royalty and politicians.
Trevor says: “It is certainly a form of political and moral corruption… You have to ask yourself the question: Why is a man of 60 going to a concert for sub-teens?”
