Utilized by innovators like Wendy Carlos, Suzanne Ciani, Isao Tomita, and countless others, the Moog System 55 is a modular monolith that left a lasting mark on synth history. Originally released in 1973, the system features two main consoles filled with 36 hand-built modules, including 10 oscillators.
In Moog’s 1974 manual, the company described it this way: “The Synthesizer 55 will: serve as the principal instrument in the most sophisticated composition studio. It is completely compatible with standard professional audio equipment, and can provide processing for traditional instruments, voices, and 'natural' sounds."
Moog reissued the System 55 in 2015, limiting production to just 55 units. The one currently in the Vintage King Tech Shop hasn't made it to our site just yet, but you can call us at 888.653.1184 if you're interested.
