Monolith is a work by the artist Franck K.
This work can be placed outdoors. The artist will be able to advise the collector on the best location for the piece, and can possibly retouch the work beforehand to adapt it to its environment. The sculptures is empty on the inside (metal thickness: 1.2 mm).
Franck K’s stainless steel works play with the light and reflections of their surroundings. These sculptures have a perfectly polished surface, deformed by bumps and hollows. They seem to be animated by a perpetual movement, inspired by the waves and reflections on the surface of the sea.
Making direct reference to optical art, Franck K’s sculptures question our perception of reality and stimulate the imagination of viewers, who become “architects of their own work” as they move around the sculpture: the rhythm of their steps and the inclination of their gaze influence the shapes and colours that appear and disappear on the work, like fleeting visions.
The artist’s virtuosity in metalwork, his patience and attention to detail give each of his pieces a perfectly mastered finish and execution. The lines glide fluidly over the shiny surface, in a harmonious alternation of gentle curves. In the hands of the artist, the raw material – a sheet of metal – is transmuted into a work of art.
