Colleagues and friends,
It’s an exciting time at the school, and I’m delighted to share the highlights with you in the latest edition of Mondays with Mark.
Ten days ago, we launched our 75th anniversary with a weekend of celebrations for alumni, students, faculty and staff.
We also opened our new ER/ICU facility last week. Thanks to Dr. Kate Hopper, our Small Animal Clinic director, for proudly showing us around.
Commencement is on Friday, May 26. I’m incredibly proud of our graduating students and can’t wait to congratulate them in person. We are also welcoming two special speakers, Drs. Terrence Ferguson and Vernard Hodges of the Nat Geo WILD show "Critter Fixers". In addition to appearing on livestream at commencement, they will also be speaking to future DVMs and veterinary scientists during their visit.
I’d like to thank our four working groups who have been researching and forming recommendations to move the school’s strategic initiatives forward. These groups have worked hard. I encourage all faculty, staff and students to participate in the town halls and provide your thoughts.
Finally, we’re celebrating our executive associate dean, Dr. John Pascoe. He has served the school for more than four decades and recently won Billy E. Hooper Award for Distinguished Service from the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges.
