Colleagues and friends,
Summer is here, so in the July Mondays with Mark episode, I join some prospective students from diverse backgrounds as they explore veterinary medicine at UC Davis to get experience and see if it’s right for them. Our current students also use the summer to get academic experiences abroad, in the field, or in the lab (where I met three students who are conducting exciting research).
Summer also means that fire season is beginning in California. As I discover on a visit to the school’s new California Veterinary Emergency Team (CVET) headquarters, UC Davis is ready to respond!
In this episode, I also give a shoutout to Dr. Crystal Rogers, who was chosen as a 2023 Chancellor’s Fellow for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, joining recent Chancellor’s Fellows Drs. Melanie Gareau and Karen Shapiro.
