Kendra Scott, a 36-year-old Memphis woman, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
Incident Details
The arrest occurred in Southwest Memphis on the 3000 block of Travis Road in the early hours of July 16, 2026. Police responded to a shooting call around 1:50 a.m. and found a male victim, Rodderius Morton, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Kendra Scott was detained at the location after reportedly stating, “I shot him, I shot him,” while holding a firearm in the front yard of the residence. Officers confirmed she was later charged with first-degree murder and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and does not currently have bond set. She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday following the arrest (WREG, Memphis Police Department)
