Simulation and rendering I did in 2005 with C4D and Dynamics to generate a 3D animated version of a David Goodsell painting. This low density molecular solution shows the common molecular components of blood serum. After toying with Dynamics and Sketch-n-Toon for a week, I hacked this together in a couple hours and rendered one with Dynamics on and one with it off. This version is off, and since it only took 5 hours less, it shows that S&T was the main bottleneck, not Dynamics. It took 54 hours to render this (way more polygons than I needed and S&T was expensive), so it was hard to predict my bad camera/lighting issues.
