We’re on Our Own : Patch Notes
VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
And yet still more and more patching with my smaller, Mutable Instruments-focused, case. This patch grew out of more experimentation with Warps, Tides, and the SMR.

Routing/Control
-----------------------
A fairly simple patch, though melodically pretty interesting, I hope. All melodic stuff is done by O+C in Quadraturia mode.

Drone/Sequenced Voice 1: Yeah, weird combination there, but I’m using Tides fed into Warps’ crossfade mode, just at the edge of wavefader/waveshaper mode. TIMBRE is modulated by Peaks #1 channel #1 in LFO mode, attenuated via Quadratt. The fixed-frequency secondary wave provided by Warps, and crossfading in and out, contributes to a drone feel here and there. Wave parameters modulated by Peaks #1 channel #2, also attenuated/inverted by Quadratt. Tides v/oct input is sequenced by O+C in Quantermain mode, dorian scale, 12-note length. Envelope by Mini-Slew triggered by RCD /2. Occasionally, I use the big Warps knob to sweep through other modes. Tides output is sent to Clouds in looping delay mode triggered on RCD /3 (frozen in the tune’s intro).

To be completely honest, I’ve looked a few times and I can’t quite describe what is causing the slow fade-in and fade-out of this voice, but I like it :-D.

SMR is fed a multed output from Tides. A consonant bank was selected, and the levels carefully set (this is very tricky with the SMR, IMO). A trigger on RCD /12 rotates SMR’s wheel one notch every 12 beats continuously. The effect is pretty subtle, but does add some random overtones throughout.

Main Melody/Mood: Rings sequenced by another channel of O+C Quadraturia mode, also in dorian, 12-note length, triggered by RCD /1. In this case I muted the 2nd degree of the scale to avoid “clinkers”. Rings BRIGHTNESS and DAMPING modulated by yet another channel of O+C, in dorian, 4-note length (the details, and certainly the scale, don't matter all that much here -- I just wanted modulation of these parameters).

Rings POSITION modulated by Peaks #2, channel #2, no attenuation. Rings STRUCTURE is further modulated using Meta-Seqencer, with a 4-note length triggered on RCD’s /12, and whose output is slewed by the 1U clock/random. This accounts for the “movement” in the melody/plucking stuff.

Rings is in Sympathetic Strings regular mode. Though it is modulated, I also manually play with DAMPING to produce either plucked or flowing sounds. Reverb on Rings is the cheap and cheerful 2hp Verb.
