In Norway, model railroading and railway modelling or rail transport modeling are of course also a very popular hobby. There is even a manufacturer in Norway who focuses specifically on Scandinavian model trains, namely Norsk Modelljernbane (NMJ). To present those Scandinavian rail models in a realistic scenery, NMJ has built a model railroad layout in HO scale depicting a replica of Hønefoss Railway Station.
Hønefoss Station, called “Hønefoss Stasjon” in Norway, is located at the intersection between the Bergen Line, the Randsfjord Line and the Roa-Hønefoss Line. Hønefoss is served by express trains to Oslo and Bergen. The station is designed as a so called “Keilbahnhof”, literally “wedge railway station”. Keilbahnhof is the German name for a railway station in which the station is located between branching railway tracks. It is a junction station that is part of the railway junction itself, with its platforms converging in one direction and diverging in the other.
