Back on Mountain is a pretty interesting level. Older levels are quite intriguing for me to play, so I can see what kind of things people made back then. You get to see the uniqueness of more simplistic levels with a much more restricted editor. And while this level isn’t the greatest, Back on Mountain is definitely a level to behold.
If I am not mistaken, this level was made back in 1.7, and looking at it, it’s not really one of the best designed levels out there, nor is it one of the most enjoyable to play, so the level having only a rate with no feature is deserved.
But the level itself is actually pretty unique. There is quite a bit of repetitiveness in the level, which could be a turn off for some people. It does seem weird for this, but in a good way. At least in my opinion.
And MaJacko has been one of my favorite old timey creators if I am being honest. Say what you want about his creations, but MaJacko is a very standalone creator. We never had a creator like him before, and we really haven’t had a creator like him ever since either. And that’s why this as well as his other levels like MetalCore and Future Demoness are so cool to me. The gameplay in these isn’t over the top but it works, and you get to admire some of the designs in these levels as well.
To be fair though, Back on Mountain does have a few bugs and flaws, as well as unbalanced gameplay. BUT I can say that this is an archaic level that sometimes people dismiss as another level that’s just bad and too difficult. In all reality, the only difficult part is the very beginning. But everything else is alright imo. So even if it didn’t age well for most people, it aged well for me. 7/10.
