Watch in 4K Ultra HD! (EDIT: Happy April Fools'!)

What, were you expecting an April Fools' joke or something?

It was another ordinary day of glitch-hunting in the TAS server back in December, and I asked if anyone could find anything interesting whatsoever in the KCL models of a track.

BillyNoodles then PMd me with a screenshot showing an unusually placed wall that he found - residing near the finish line. He mentioned how it contained properties very similar to that of the wall that you clip through when doing the glitch on Maple Treeway, in that when you hit it at a certain position with a certain angle, it gives you some height.

I immediately became intrigued, and got to work testing with the assistance of a moonjump hack. The wall did indeed possess the properties that Billy predicted. An ultra shortcut on DS Delfino Square had been hypothesised multiple times before, but nobody could seem to crack the solution. I began attempting to get on the outside of the fence without any hacks, and managed to do so by using a wallclip which barely clears the high invisible wall. From there, I went forward and turned around whilst staying on the seam without falling off.

I took inspiration from the Rainbow Road ultra, and used multiple inputs to perform a bounce and a sharp left turn. Luckily the crease in the road (where the slope meets the flat part) allowed me to get a great bounce without needing a nosedive. I was avoiding passing through the finish line backwards by a mile, so the last thing to do was to hit the last KCP.
I was actually stuck for a bit, because I was struggling to locate the sketchy wall – which was a necessity if I wanted to reach the last KCP.

After trying numerous different approaches for the third shroom and the bounce, I finally clipped it... and there it was. I was crossing every finger and toe that I would get respawned right after the bridge – and I did. Never did I think that I would be the one to be the first to pull off a new ultra shortcut.

I was tempted to release it straightaway, but part of me knew that I had to divulge the ultra on April Fools' Day. Oh, how it pained me to hoard it for 4 and a half months. When N64 Mario Raceway and Dry Dry Ruins got discovered in early January, I was allured to showcase it and make it 3 ultra shortcuts discovered in a week. But again, I reminded myself that patience is a virtue, and that I must stick to my plan and wait for the 1st of April until I show everyone.

It's worth noting that this TAS can be improved by around a second, with 95% of the possible time-save coming from re-doing the first half of the flap.

The speedometer labelled as "km/h" on the bottom left is normal vehicle speed (most commonly used speedometer), and the speedometer labelled as "SPEED" in the bottom right is a much more accurate speed reading (The XZ speed) created by using the equation:
((Xpos current frame - Xpos previous frame)^2) + ((Zpos Current frame - Zpos Previous frame)^2)^0.5

The P-Wing displays the amount of airtime, the blue spark displays MT charge (max is 270), and the mushroom displays shroom boost.

Huge thank you to Billy yet again for kicking off this whole project.
