Credits go to dm248 for the concept of this SC. Even though it was heavily modified by me for it to work, I still want to give him credit because without him I wouldn't've tried this idea out.
We can use this on lap 1 if it's faster, but even if it isn't we can use this on laps 2 and 3. What does this mean? Well, this means that we can utilize the op strat that cuts off the beginning of the lap AND use the op strat that cuts off the ending ramp. Essentially, the only "normal" part of coconut mall driven in laps 2 and 3 are in the middle of the course... and we aren't even going in the right direction for that. So yeah, this category just got a LOT crazier, and a lot faster! I'm guessing this saves around 1-2 seconds for 3lap!

Thanks to dm248 for outlining how this might be accomplished. I had a really fun time trying to get this to work with just 1 shroom instead of 2 (hint: its very precise, as you have to maximize the time you land on the second portion of the rock to give yourself as much upwards momentum as possible). The hardest part of this was of course getting a clip under the wall instead of through it, which allowed me to preserve my momentum and allowed for an insanely fast transition to the road. However, I think this is the part with the biggest timesave.
I had estimated that a low 26 would be an unrealistically lower bound of a flap that wouldnt use this shortcut, with a mid 26 being more likely as the true limit. Now that Ive beaten this estimated threshold, I decided its time for me to upload this. However, this means that this flap is in no way optimized and can probably be brought down by a couple hundredths of a second at least.

Havent uploaded here in a while! You can see me upload on my second channel, @veryancient5431, where I post quick uploads of random TAS stuff I do. This channel is reserved for higher quality uploads with more effort and production involved.
About the shortcut itself, its pretty easy provided you practice riding the seam for a teensy bit, and well worth the difficulty due to how easy the wheelie itself is, along with the fact that it saves 4.867 seconds :)

Tunnel Shortcut:
This is, unfortunately, probably not faster at all. It definitely is not 3lap viable, and even if it is used in flap, it requires zig-zagging through the fountains, which is slower, and requires 2 shrooms, which, again, is a lot.
Lighthouse Shortcut:
I originally got this with spear but switched to flame runner as it not only gets higher clips but is a faster vehicle for the track. This definitely saves in flap and potentially saves in 3lap by using the shroomless staircase sc, leaving a shroom for this sc and thus creates a no ultra 3lap category. In fact, spear might even be faster for 3lap since the lighthouse turn is now skipped.

Wow... this is insane.
After joking about Bullet Bike being the new meta (see my MC glitch flap), I actually wanted to test if this was true for other tracks. What first came to mind was BC. With its huge miniturbo, the Bullet Bike could start an rfh without needing a mushroom. Furthermore, its low weight could, when paired with a shroom, clear the gap. Now it was time to test. I was surprised within 15 minutes, I had completed the SC with one shroom. I did have to slow down to 60km/h to clear the gap, but Im sure you can go much faster than this.
Even though I got a 41, its possible to push this down to a high 38. Expect a 1:55/1:56 on this course with an optimized run.

Ah, another fine day in Mario Circuit. I had actually started this a few months ago, and stopped at 24.322 because I lost all my motivation to continue; I didnt really have the correct mindset for TASing, which exhausted me and left me with an unfinished, suboptimal result. However, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to work on it again out of pure boredom. This time I would not repeat the same mistake that I had made earlier: I made sure to optimize each turn before moving onto the next, and in the process, I had discovered many new ways to play the track.
Overall Im super happy with how this turned out and am glad with the progress Ive made as a TASer!
