Shooting Star claims superiority for the first time in MKW TAS in this category. Because its an outside drift bike, it can turn before it hits the pole, making the turnaround much faster.
This is the first public video to showcase the pole clip being faster to be the BKT. Also, shoutout to Justin for finding the right side clip back in January 2021, which allows us to trigger the lap later, thus being faster and saving time.

This was found months ago in early/mid February but I never uploaded it publicly, only unlisted in terrible quality.
There honestly isnt much to explain here. You just use a shroom for the sg instead of the normal shroomspot, and while the initial setup loses quite a bit of time, the end result is that it saves ~0.3 or a bit more per lap. Were doing a supergrind between laps 1 and 2 and between laps 2 and 3, so only twice throughout the entire run. This means that the ending time is estimated to be 1:17.3xx (my personal guess is 1:17.350 for an optimized run), which is cool that a supergrind on this track saves around .6!
I dont think similar tracks can utilize this strategy for 3lap unfortunately, like DC, KC, etc. A shroom would be viable but it isnt enough to beat the current no-glitch shroomspot.

Credits go to dm248 for the concept of this SC. Even though it was heavily modified by me for it to work, I still want to give him credit because without him I wouldntve tried this idea out.
We can use this on lap 1 if its faster, but even if it isnt we can use this on laps 2 and 3. What does this mean? Well, this means that we can utilize the op strat that cuts off the beginning of the lap AND use the op strat that cuts off the ending ramp. Essentially, the only normal part of coconut mall driven in laps 2 and 3 are in the middle of the course... and we arent even going in the right direction for that. So yeah, this category just got a LOT crazier, and a lot faster! Im guessing this saves around 1-2 seconds for 3lap!")

Thanks to dm248 for outlining how this might be accomplished. I had a really fun time trying to get this to work with just 1 shroom instead of 2 (hint: its very precise, as you have to maximize the time you land on the second portion of the rock to give yourself as much upwards momentum as possible). The hardest part of this was of course getting a clip under the wall instead of through it, which allowed me to preserve my momentum and allowed for an insanely fast transition to the road. However, I think this is the part with the biggest timesave.
I had estimated that a low 26 would be an unrealistically lower bound of a flap that wouldnt use this shortcut, with a mid 26 being more likely as the true limit. Now that Ive beaten this estimated threshold, I decided its time for me to upload this. However, this means that this flap is in no way optimized and can probably be brought down by a couple hundredths of a second at least.
