Its been a minute since I last made a brand new multi-level stage, and even longer since I made one that was more than two floors. This stage has a fair bit of lore to it: the idea behind it takes from the bit in Nightwolf's story that his ancestral homeland is immune and protected from Shao Kahn's soul stealing magic during the Outworld Merger, acting as a safe haven and base of operations for Raiden, Nightwolf, Kang & Lao, and the other chosen warriors.
In this stage we find that some of the wealthiest and most powerful "elites" in Earthrealm, having somehow figured out through their own vast resources what was happening and what Kahn intended to do (i.e. steal the souls of everyone on Earth) during the chaotic and riot-filled few weeks in between the start of the invasion and the desolate no-man's-land that Earthrealm soon becomes, and having found that the Matoka lands were one of the only accessible places on Earth that were shielded from these kinds of dark magics, had secretly dug and built themselves a kind of ornate and luxurious survival bunker deep beneath the native reservation in order to protect themselves.
No points for anyone who might pick out the not-so-subtle commentary on a bunch of ultra-wealthy white people using Native lands without consent to benefit themselves and shield themselves from harm, and also just selfishly saving their own hides while leaving the rest of the planet to rot in the wake of an apocalyptic event.
And while the usual instructions for setting up a multi-level stage is included here, this is also my first stage that makes use of a nifty feature in Mugenhook that allows for the music to change during stage transitions. So if you already have your MKP game set up with Mugenhook, be sure to also give this feature a look!
