This MIT Architecture Alumni event from June 10, 2024, features one of Asia’s most dynamic new urban destinations for smart office, residences, retail, culture and entertainment centers, One Bangkok. A panel comprised of architects, planners and real estate leaders will share the development strategy, planning and design of the project. Discussion will also foreground ways the cross-cultural team worked to ensure the project reflects both regional and international aspirations.
Jason Fisher SM RED ’16, associate principal of SOM, will present the project jointly with collaborating architect Pichai Wongwaisayawan, Deputy Managing Director of Architects 49 and Russell Kim, Chief Design Officer of Frasers Property Holdings Thailand, the company leading development of the central Bangkok site. SOM developed the master plan for the 16-hectare site – the first in Thailand to achieve LEED Platinum Certification for Neighborhood Development - and designed several buildings.
Ellen Lou, MCP ‘85 SM ’85 and Elizabeth Krasner SB ’08 will moderate the conversation, and Makoto Hoshino SM ’84, MITArchA Board Member, will provide opening remarks.

If you had told Jennifer Yang ’97 during her time as a Course 7 major at MIT that she would use her biology degree to run a distillery, she wouldn’t have believed you.
“When I was at MIT, I looked at entrepreneurs and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s not me. I’m not one of those people who are so innovative and gutsy and brave,’” Yang says.
In November 2022, she and her husband opened Covalent Spirits, a craft distillery, tasting room, and event space in Westminster, Maryland.
