India is among the top 3 geographies for the success of global clean energy transition. The scale that India has built in sectors of renewables and clean mobility is commensurate to its stature in the world. However, there is amazing work underway in other sectors as well, such as energy efficiency, circularity, resilience and many more. These sectors don’t get talked about as frequently as the mainstream ones, like renewables, but the work done is pretty effective. This live webcast from June 10, 2024 features an engaging discussion on sectors that are India’s unsung heroes of the energy transition.

As a first-generation student from a small town, Gohar Khan ’21 had to navigate the college admissions process largely on his own, scouring the internet to figure out what admissions officers might expect from essays and interviews. If you had told Jennifer Yang ’97 during her time as a Course 7 major at MIT that she would use her biology degree to run a distillery, she wouldn’t have believed you.
“When I was at MIT, I looked at entrepreneurs and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s not me. I’m not one of those people who are so innovative and gutsy and brave,’” Yang says.
In November 2022, she and her husband opened Covalent Spirits, a craft distillery, tasting room, and event space in Westminster, Maryland.
