The epic journey continues,

alucard awakens to find that his father panicked after their initial confrontation and turned him into a creature of the night. some things have happened, his son, simon, has grown into a grumpy adult and is out to avenge him and his mother, dracula, believing his efforts at resurrecting his son failed, spent the better part of thirty years on a genocidal rampage, completely unaware that his son had family in the line of fire.

now dracula must come to terms with his mistake, but unfortunately he spent the better part of thirty years burning the bridge back to the belmonts, and with this new family he'd unwittingly sired out for revenge, he does the only thing he can.
he pretends to be the bad guy, going out of his way not to mention who the belmonts are in relation to him to spare simon from the grief of knowing his family shame, and doing battle with his son and grandson, if only to keep up appearances.

he has an eternity after all, what's a hundred years in comparison to the long run?

alucard, having forgotten the final moments with his father due to the thirty year slumber, fights him as he'd done previously, forgetting the visions of the mirror and fighting his father out of hatred.

in the end, fate was the ultimate villain here.
