Industry Minister Mélanie Joly says the federal government will invest over $99 million into life science companies Evonik and Kardium to support innovative health solutions through the Strategic Response Fund. She also announces $541 million in funding to support 64 new research chairs in the Eddie Goldenberg Research Chairs of Canada and the Canada Impact+ Emerging Leaders programs.
Minister Joly is joined at the press conference in Vancouver by Gregor Robertson (minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada), Wade Grant (MP for Vancouver Quadra), and Adrian Dix (B.C. minister of energy and climate solutions), as well as Sylvie Lamoureux (vice president for research programs with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada), Peter Caravan (Eddie Goldenberg Distinguished Research Chair of Canada in Translational Molecular Imaging and Therapy), Kevin Chaplin (CEO of Kardium), and Guido Skudlarek (Americas president of Evonik).
