This gold mine is now part of Bureau of Land Management and was first discovered in 1935, (the host rock is Quartzite), where dry panning was used. It was sold the same year and a small amalgamation mill was built. In May of 1937, the site was visited by President Herbert Hoover, who stated that he was very impressed with the site.
The mill employed 15 men and was treating 38 tons of ore per day at $30 per ton. It closed in the late 1940s.
