Benchmarking the AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB against 13 games using an average gaming PC in 2023.
It’s the circle of life; cryptocurrencies suddenly surge in popularity, mining them becomes popular, miners swoop on all the AMD RX 400 and 500 series GPUs they can find. Then, after a period of time whereby these GPUs are essentially impossible to find for reasonable prices, the bottom drops out of the crypto market and there’s a sudden flood of viable gaming cards on eBay for dirt cheap.
Or, at least, that’s how things used to be. Now that game devs are feeling more confident to move on from the 8th console generation, this once-reliable console equivalent GPU is starting to show its age. Considering the 8GB RX 580’s appealing price and VRAM buffer, should you even think about buying one today? And what about all these “new” cards from random brands?
