Minecraft Beta 1.5 just came out so I took a quick look around and decided to put up a first impressions video. It seems like there are a lot of minor additions as well as the major additions we have been expecting. I cover a lot of them in this video, but not all. Updates include:
- Detector rail
- Power rail
- Weather
- Unique saplings
- Fixing the ladder 'glitch'
- Creating ladders now produces two of them
- When in a chest, hold shift and click an item to switch it from in your inventory to in the chest and back
- Water currents have been changed back to normal
- "Mojang" logo scaling when Minecraft is in full-screen has been fixed
- Customisable GUI size
Personally I'm disappointed. I was looking forward to the new minecart track additions but they're a real let-down. The power rail only works when it is receiving current (not such a big deal and kinda makes sense) and the detector rail is made using a stone pressure plate but acts like a wooden pressure plate (activating even if the cart is empty).
This makes the detector rail pieces pretty useless in terms of what most minecrafters use in-rail pressure plates for. Hopefully Notch and Co will release different types of detector rail in the near future.
