In this new tutorial, we take a look at using melons for a vanilla exchange machine. The major problem is using pumpkins in place of melons, because pistons will break both melons and pumpkins in the same manner. Therefore, a player could "trick" the machine into thinking a pumpkin is a melon.

However, pumpkins cannot be placed onto a piston. We use this to our advantage because melons CAN.

Unfortunately, the randomness of the melons dropping may result in the player receiving a couple extra melons when placing the block inside.

We use several components to complete the machine, including a special pressure plate table, a BUD switch, an RS Nor Latch that resets itself after a short period, and a rapid pulse.

A major issue is the capability to "break" the machine with a solid block. It will remove a needed water source but will not provide the player with any of the loot in the dispenser.
