all of the recent speedrun activity on this map has been on the out of bounds elytra category. i get why, but i felt there was a lot of untapped potential for playing the map legitimately
most of the improvement comes from going to the entrance of grey early, to get a punch bow. the slightly worse travel distance is easily made up for by the increased speed from punch boosting. i also go through more of the dungeons instead of digging to them, which is not only faster, but also gives access to more ender pearls to use elsewhere; & pearl deload more strategically to reduce travel time. there is also a bed warp which is nice
the tradeoff of playing on an older version with punch boosting is having to go much further to deload. punch boosting was mostly patched in 1.11, so i believe the actual optimal version for this map is 1.9 or 1.10, for being able to jump throw pearls (making it viable to deload with 1 pearl by punch boosting away), & also sometimes just deload with 2 chunks in certain conditions for reasons i dont understand
this run is not very good in my opinion. it is probably improvable by about 2 minutes. however my goal was sub 30, & i dont have much interest in continuing beyond that

when i first played this i was utterly defeated by the tick perfect input & resorted to using a macro, which is the main reason i came back to beat it legitmately over a year later
about 10 seconds of improvement came from a better route for grabbing the grenades + credits before going back to the tutorial, but the rest came from just playing better
ill also redo the all dungeons / no wool skip category. maybe not next though

think my effort standards for posting a run have gone up a bit too high (especially for a second channel :/), so here is a map i only learned exists earlier today

i like this route a lot for how unintuitive it is. i take a detour to an objective, dont grab it, & only use an item in the wool box to speed up getting a *different* objective, then come back for it afterwards, inexplicably saving ~50 seconds overall. also a rare instance of intentional death without keepinv, or ender chests, or an item elevator
i tried a bed warp route first obviously. its not very good, partially because the tower isnt straight so you can only go up 4 of the 6 floors at once. then you end up in a spot where you have to punch through a quartz slab, then you need to dip down into the last room (filled with enemys!!) a bit to grab blocks to pillar up into the wool. it is slower & you will die
btw in 1.17+ exiting a gui with items on your cursor puts them in your inventory, so you can fast loot by just double clicking & closing the chest. should be common knowledge i feel
