Simple Goldfarmdesign for 1.7! These farms are easy to set up and yet very efficent :)
FAQ ( PLEASE READ BEFORE ASKING A QUESTION):
1. Q:could you make the Portals 2/3 blocks high to save obsidian?
A:No, as I explain in the video, the number of pigmen spawning is straight propotional to the amount of portalblocks in a portal, and the 23x23 portals have the best portalblock to obsidian ratio, therefore you save obsidian by using huge portals. also 2 high portals don't work at all. the algorithm works as follows: every gametick ( 20 times per second), in every chunk section 3 random blocks are chosen. If its a portalblock, it will with a chance of difficulty in 2000 try to spawn a pigmen ontop of the next solid block below the portalblock ( which will always be an obsidianblock of the bottom frame part)
2. Q: Can you use snowgolems to shoot the pigmen off?
A: No, already thought about that, but the portalblock hinder the golems vision, therefore they don't shoot teh pigmen properly.
3. Q: Couldn't you use a renamed large slime instead of an ghast? They are so hard to catch!
A: No, the slime would also push the pigmen off the portals, but he suffocates every time you pass a portalframe. with an complete redesign of the track layout it could work though.
4.Q:Could you just use a straight drop? The snowgolem thing in the middle seems kinda useless!
A: Not if you want to get the pigmen to consistent 1-hit-kill. When you flush them over the edge of a waterstream, they bounce up and down all the time, making the actual fall height inconsistent. So I came up with the idea to use this step with the iron fence and then let them walk off when aggroed by the golem. vines would also work, but they have an issue that too many pigmen incoming at once can clock up a vine drop, since they push each other against the vines making them rise again.
5.Q: Will the Ghasts shoot at you in survival?
A: No, because the portalblocks completely block the ghasts vision. Outside the small farm though they will, I forgot to put some railing around the tracks there to prevent them from shooting you when you approach or leave the farm.
