Scrappy Kathy | Mindset A Perfect Day || Using Pre Made Clusters to Start Your Pages @scrappykathy | Uploaded August 2024 | Updated October 2024, 46 minutes ago.
Several folks who took the clusters class for a recent Vicki Boutin collection said that they loved the clusters they made in the class but struggled to figure out how to use them. What I discovered as I talked with them was that they'd tried to fit them onto pages they started with sketches or scraplifts or even their own designs and for various reasons -- not least their size -- they had trouble doing this.
So I had an idea -- why not START with the cluster and build the page around it? I designed the pages myself rather than using a sketch or lift but it could work any way you'd like -- If your sketch has a central photo block, let the embellishment cluster anchor that block and include a small-ish photo or even a vertical strip of photos to balance the page. If your sketch or lift has two photos, sub the cluster for one of the photos. If there are two blocks with photos in each, again, sub the cluster for one and include similar embellishments from the same collection to balance the two blocks. If the pre-made cluster is large, use a larger photo and repeat elements, colors, etc. to build balance.
This is one of 5 such pages I've made using clusters from the Discover and Create collection. I'll illustrate my process in a video covering three of these pages a few days from now. Hope you'll tune in, and please let me know if quick design ideas like this interest you. It's the kind of video I'll be able to make when recovering from my surgery.....
Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow for my 2000-subbie hop and GIVEAWAY!!
