President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. participated in the Milken Institute Roundtable with Regional Leaders on the final day of his Working Visit to Singapore on July 16, 2026.

In his remarks, the President highlighted the Philippines’ transition to upper-middle-income status, noting that the country’s economic reforms and its massive infrastructure program have positioned it to withstand global geopolitical tensions and trade uncertainties. He urged investors to capitalize on reforms aimed at attracting long-term foreign capital.

Outlining the Administration’s economic agenda before executives, investors and business leaders, he emphasized that the nation’s 52-million-strong workforce and its status as one of Southeast Asia’s largest consumer markets provide a solid foundation for sustained economic growth despite an increasingly uncertain global environment.

The Chief Executive discussed several of his Economic Team’s strategies and trade and policy reforms to improve the country’s investment climate. These include the ‘Build Better More’ infrastructure program; the Luzon Economic Corridor, a key component in transforming the Philippines into a regional hub for advanced manufacturing, electronics and critical mineral processing; removal of foreign ownership restrictions in public services and retail trade; extension of land lease agreements for foreign investors to as long as 99 years; allowing full foreign ownership of renewable energy projects; and the goal of signing at least five (5) additional free trade agreements.

The Milken Institute is a non-profit, non-partisan think tank that convenes leaders from business, finance, government and philanthropy to address global economic challenges. It hosted President Marcos Jr. at its Asia Summit in Singapore in 2023. Today’s roundtable was coordinated by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) through the Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore, with support from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
