The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) hosts military academy cadets and midshipmen under the Military Academic Research Associates (MARA) program to enhance the bonds between LLNL and the armed services and military academies, benefiting DOD, LLNL, and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Since the 1990’s, LLNL and the academies have supported internships by which cadets and midshipmen can participate in multidisciplinary research on real problems critical to national defense and security.
